Scripture:
“It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.”
— Lamentations 3:22, KJV
There are seasons when life gives us many reasons to look back in wonder. We remember the battles, the mistakes, the delays, the accusations, the disappointments, and the moments when it seemed as though shame would have the final word. Yet, through it all, we are still standing. We have not been consumed. We have not been destroyed. We have not been put to shame. The reason is clear: the mercies of the Lord prevailed.
Lamentations 3:22 reminds us that our preservation is not rooted in our own strength, perfection, wisdom, or ability. It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed. Mercy stood between us and destruction. Mercy answered where we had no defence. Mercy covered what weakness exposed. Mercy preserved what the enemy thought he could destroy.
The compassion of God is not seasonal. It does not fail when human help fails. It does not expire when circumstances become difficult. It does not withdraw because the journey has been long. His compassions fail not. This is why shame has not swallowed us up. This is why reproach has not defined us. This is why our story is still being written by the hand of God.
Shame may threaten, but mercy triumphs. Accusations may rise, but mercy speaks louder. Trials may press hard, but mercy sustains. What was meant to disgrace us, God can turn into testimony. What was meant to silence us, God can use to reveal His faithfulness.
Therefore, we do not boast in ourselves. We boast in the Lord, whose mercies have kept us. We are not standing because we are perfect; we are standing because He is compassionate. We are not hopeful because everything has been easy; we are hopeful because His mercy has never failed.
Today, let your heart be strengthened. The same mercy that preserved you yesterday is still active over your life today. The compassion of the Lord will continue to cover you, defend you, restore you, and keep you from shame.
Prayer:
Lord, I thank You because it is by Your mercies that I am not consumed. Thank You for preserving me, covering me, and keeping me from shame. Let Your unfailing compassion continue to speak over my life. Turn every reproach into testimony, and let my life reveal the triumph of Your mercy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
