“There is a path which no fowl knoweth, and which the vulture’s eye hath not seen:
The lion’s whelps have not trodden it, nor the fierce lion passed by it.”
Introduction
Man has explored the oceans, climbed the highest mountains, and gazed into the vastness of space. Yet there remains a realm beyond the reach of human sight, wisdom, and discovery. Job speaks of a path unknown to birds, unseen by the sharp-eyed vulture, and untrodden by the strongest beasts. He uses this imagery to describe the hidden depths of divine wisdom.
Among the deepest realities known to God is eternity.
The human mind is accustomed to thinking in terms of days, years, and generations. We measure life by calendars and clocks. Yet eternity cannot be measured. It has no beginning and no end. It stretches beyond the furthest horizon of human understanding. The deepest ocean, the highest mountain, and the largest galaxy are finite, but eternity is infinite.
The tragedy of many lives is that they are spent pursuing temporary things while neglecting eternal realities. Men labour for wealth, fame, and pleasure, yet often give little thought to where they will spend eternity. They prepare diligently for retirement but not for eternity. They plan for decades ahead but ignore the endless ages beyond this life.
Eternity is deep.

“He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.” — Ecclesiastes 3:11 (KJV)
God has placed within humanity an awareness that life is more than the present moment. There is a longing for something beyond time, beyond death, beyond earthly existence. Yet the full scope of eternity remains beyond human understanding.
A fish may know the river but not the ocean. Likewise, man knows time but struggles to comprehend eternity. Our minds are finite; eternity is not.
The inability to fully understand eternity does not diminish its reality. Rather, it should humble us before God and remind us that there are dimensions of existence far greater than ourselves. - Every Life Is Moving Toward Eternity

Every second that passes brings us closer to eternity.
Whether rich or poor, educated or uneducated, powerful or weak, all men are travellers on the road from time into eternity. Death is not the end of existence; it is the doorway into an eternal state.
Many live as though earthly life will continue indefinitely. Yet Scripture reminds us that our days are numbered.
“For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.” — James 4:14 (KJV)
Compared to eternity, seventy or eighty years are but a fleeting moment. The longest earthly life is brief when set against endless ages.
Wisdom therefore requires that we live not merely for time but for eternity. - Eternal Consequences Flow from Temporal Decisions
One of the deepest truths about eternity is that decisions made in time have eternal consequences.
The choice to obey or reject God, to receive or refuse Christ, to walk in righteousness or rebellion, does not end with earthly life. These choices echo into eternity.
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.” — 2 Corinthians 5:10 (KJV)
Every word, every deed, every motive will be brought into divine evaluation. Nothing is hidden from the eyes of God.
This truth should not produce fear alone; it should inspire holy living, faithful service, and earnest devotion. Every act of obedience matters because eternity is at stake. - The Cross Is God’s Answer to Eternity
If eternity is deep, God’s love is deeper still.
Man’s greatest need is not merely success in time but salvation for eternity. God met that need through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” — John 3:16 (KJV)
Christ entered time so that sinners could inherit eternity. He bore the penalty of sin so that all who believe in Him might receive eternal life.
The cross stands at the intersection of time and eternity. There God made provision for the salvation of every soul. - The Wise Live with Eternity in View
“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” — Psalm 90:12 (KJV)
Wisdom is not merely intelligence. Wisdom is living today in the light of forever.
The wise person asks:
Will this decision matter in eternity?
Does this action honour God?
Am I investing in what lasts forever?
Am I prepared to meet my Maker?
Many things that seem important today will be forgotten tomorrow. Many treasures accumulated on earth will perish. But the soul endures forever.
The believer therefore seeks first the kingdom of God, knowing that eternal realities far outweigh temporary concerns.
Conclusion
Eternity is deep. It is deeper than human philosophy, deeper than science, deeper than imagination, and deeper than the oceans of the earth.
We live for a few years in time, but we will exist forever in eternity.
The greatest mistake a person can make is to live as though this world is all there is. The greatest wisdom is to prepare for eternity through faith in Jesus Christ and a life surrendered to God.
One day, time will end for each of us. Clocks will stop. Calendars will become irrelevant. Earthly achievements will fade. Only eternal realities will remain.
Therefore, live today with eternity in view.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, help us to see beyond the distractions of time and to live with eternity in view. Grant us wisdom to make decisions that honour You and bear eternal fruit. Keep our hearts fixed upon Christ and the hope of everlasting life. Teach us to number our days and to prepare diligently for the eternal kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
