THE CHRISTIAN’S PROTECTION

Key Scriptures (KJV)
“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” — Luke 10:19
“And if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them…” — Mark 16:18
“The one came not near the other all the night.” — Exodus 14:20
“Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel…” — Numbers 23:23
Reflection
One of the greatest privileges of the Christian life is the assurance of God’s protection. We live in a world filled with dangers seen and unseen, yet God has not left His children defenseless. He surrounds us with His presence, empowers us by His Spirit, and watches over us with unfailing care.
Jesus declared, “Behold, I give unto you power…” This authority is not based on our strength but on His victory. Because Christ has conquered sin, death, and the powers of darkness, believers can walk in confidence, knowing that the enemy does not have the final say over their lives.
When the children of Israel stood before the Red Sea, the pillar of cloud and fire moved between them and the Egyptian army. To God’s people it was light, guidance, and protection; to their enemies it was darkness and confusion. The same God still stands between His children and every force that seeks their harm. What threatens us must first pass through His sovereign hand.
Balaam discovered this truth when he sought to curse Israel. Instead of a curse, God declared, “There is no enchantment against Jacob.” No spell, curse, divination, or scheme of darkness can overturn God’s blessing upon those who belong to Him. The believer’s security is not in rituals, charms, or human power, but in the covenant-keeping God.
This does not mean Christians will never face trials. Rather, it means that no weapon formed against God’s purpose for our lives will ultimately prevail. The Lord is our refuge, our shield, and our strong tower. His presence goes before us, stands beside us, and watches behind us.
Therefore, do not live in fear. Walk in faith. The God who protected Israel, who gave authority to His disciples, and who defeated the powers of darkness through Christ is still your Protector today.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your divine protection over my life. Thank You that You have given me authority through Jesus Christ and that no power of darkness can separate me from Your love and purpose. Let Your presence be a wall of fire around me and a glory within me. Deliver me from fear and fill me with confidence in Your promises. Help me to walk daily in faith, knowing that You are my refuge and fortress. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Thought for Today
When God is your Protector, what is light for you becomes darkness to your enemies, and what is intended as a curse is turned into a blessing. Walk boldly, for there is no enchantment against those whom God has redeemed.
